Professor Carolyn S Stevens is the Director of the Japanese Studies Centre at Monash University.
Professor Stevens began her appointment at the Asian Law Centre in July 2012. She is currently involved with teaching into the Asian Studies and International Studies programs. Her AB (magna cum laude) from Harvard College is in social anthropology, and her PhD in cultural anthropology is from Columbia University. Her main area of expertise with relation to Japanese law is in the field of social welfare, and she has published on issues poverty, child statelessness and disability rights.
