David Ulbrick

Senior Fellow (Melbourne Law Masters)

Pinsent Masons

Overview

David Ulbrick is a partner at Pinsent Masons in the Perth.

With dual qualifications in Civil Engineering and Law, David has the rare ability to quickly come to grips with the technical and legal issues that confront major construction projects during the delivery phase. He is experienced in advising all aspects of project delivery and disputes work, having advised developers, principals, contractors and engineers on major social, industrial and mining infrastructure projects throughout Australia.

He works closely with project teams to understand technical and commercial imperatives. This means he is able to set, and then deliver on, resolution strategies to assist project participants as they steer through the sometimes uncharted waters of claims and disputes to successful project closeout. David regularly advises in relation to all forms of dispute management from rapid expert determinations and security of payment adjudications to arbitration and litigation. David’s major clients include John Holland, Clough, Acciona, Ertech, Perkins Builders and CPB Contractors.

In addition to his legal qualifications David holds a first class honours degree in civil engineering with practical engineering experience gained during his prior employment with a top tier contractor and a boutique maritime engineering firm based in Melbourne.

David holds a Master of Construction Law from the University of Melbourne and is regularly published broadly on a range of construction law topics.

David sits on a number of not for profit boards and committees including the board of the Society of Construction Law Australia.
