Monique Cormier is a PhD candidate and Fellow at Melbourne Law School. Her current areas of research interest include jurisdiction, defences, and immunities in international criminal law. The topic of her PhD is 'The Jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court over Nationals of Non-Party States'.
Over the past ten years Monique has held research positions in NGOs, courts and universities in Adelaide, The Hague, New Delhi, New York and Melbourne. She is co-founder of the public international law consulting partnership Lex Specialis which provides pro bono advice to NGOs and developing states on questions of public international law.
Monique has a Bachelor of International Studies and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons I) from the University of Adelaide, and a Master of Laws from Columbia University. She has recently spent six months as a Visiting Researcher at Harvard Law School.
