Overview

Paul Ali is an Associate Professor and a member of the Melbourne Centre of Commercial Law. He is a member of the editorial boards of the Australian Business Law Review, the Capital Markets Law Journal, the Company and Securities Law Journal, and the Journal of Banking and Finance Law and Practice. Before becoming an academic, Paul worked for several years in the Banking & Finance and Corporate groups of two major Australian law firms. He has also been a consultant to a leading international corporate governance advisory firm. Paul has published extensively on banking and finance law, including books on credit derivatives, market-based environmental instruments, personal property security interests and securitisation. Paul’s doctoral thesis on the equitable doctrine of marshalling (published by Oxford University Press, Oxford) has been considered by the Victorian Supreme Court, the Victorian Court of Appeal, the United Kingdom High Court and the United Kingdom Supreme Court. Paul has also published books on corporate law and one of those books, International Corporate Governance after Sarbanes-Oxley (co-edited with Greg Gregoriou and published by John Wiley & Sons, Hoboken NJ) has been translated into Chinese (published by China Modern Economic Publishing House, Beijing).
