Simon McKenzie is currently completing a PhD at the University of Melbourne in international criminal law. He is also leading a research project at the Supreme Court of Victoria on the management of expert evidence in the Kilmore East bushfire proceeding, the largest class action in Victoria’s history.
Simon graduated in 2011 from the University of Tasmania with a combined Arts and Law Degree with First Class Honours in Law. He was admitted to practice in late 2011, and worked for two years in a large commercial law firm in Melbourne. During this time, he was the recipient of the Tim Hawkins Memorial Scholarship, allowing him to work for six months at the International Criminal Court as a researcher assisting Professor Tim McCormack, the Special Advisor to the Prosecutor in International Humanitarian Law. Before starting his PhD, he was a researcher for the Trial Division of the Supreme Court of Victoria.
