Professor Wayne Courtney

Overview

Wayne Courtney specialises in contract law and has broader interests in commercial law and private law. He is the author of Contractual Indemnities and The Modern Contract of Guarantee (now in its fourth edition) and numerous articles. His work has been cited by the High Court of Australia, the Supreme Court of Canada, the New Zealand Supreme Court, the United Kingdom Supreme Court, the Singapore Court of Appeal, the Hong Kong Court of Appeal and various other courts. He has been a Herbert Smith Freehills Visitor at the University of Cambridge and a Cheng Yu Tung Visiting Professor at HKU.

Wayne is currently Professor and Vice Dean in the Faculty of Law at the National University of Singapore. Previously, he was an Associate Professor and Associate Dean in the Faculty of Law at the University of Sydney. Before entering academia, Wayne practised as a commercial lawyer in a leading Australian law firm.
