ALLA 2nd Biennial Conference 2004

The Association's 2nd National Conference 'Employment Regulation for the Changing Workplace' was held on 24 -25 September 2004 at the University of Sydney.

The conference aimed to explore the objectives and form of modern labour law in the changing workplace of the 21st Century.

Highlights of the Conference included:

  • The Keynote Address by Professor Katherine Stone, Professor of Law and the Anne Evan Estabrook Professor of Dispute Resolution at Cornell Law School and Cornell University's School of Industrial and Labour Relations, on her latest book 'From Widgets to Digits: Employment Regulation for the Changing Workplace'.
  • The Dinner Address by His Honour Justice Gray of the Federal Court of Australia.
  • Papers given by academics and practitioners on a wide range of issues, including the future of collective labour law; work, family, life and law; the future of the contract of employment; corporate regulation and labour law; reflections on the objects of labour law; and casualisation and employment security.
