The Dominica Whelan Prize

The Dominica Whelan Prize Guidelines

The Dominica Whelan Prize is jointly awarded by ALLA and Federation Press for the best paper presented at the ALLA biennial national conference by a practitioner working or practising in the area of labour law, or anyone else with a professional interest in the field, other than a person who is primarily an academic or a research higher degree student.

Eligibility:

  • All Conference papers from eligible persons submitted to the Conference Organisers before the Conference deadline for the submission of written papers will be eligible for the prize.
  • Any person presenting such a paper will be eligible for the prize, except: any person who is otherwise eligible for the Phillipa Weeks prize; any person who holds the academic post of Associate Professor, Professor; or an Honorary Professorial position; or a person who is appointed to the sub-committee formed to judge the prize.

Judging:

The prize will be judged by a three person sub-committee appointed by the ALLA National Committee, with the prize to be awarded at the ALLA National Conference Dinner.

The Prize:

The prize awarded will be a book voucher provided by Federation Press and a bottle of wine (or token gift of equivalent value) provided by ALLA.
