Employment Rights of International Students: Enhancing protection through a community-university collaboration

Centre Member: Joo-Cheong Tham

International students make a vital cultural and economic contribution to Australia. In the course of their studies, many of these students are engaged in employment. There is, however, increasing concern that international student workers are being exploited, with their employment rights violated. Through a collaboration between the Centre for Employment and Labour Relations Law (CELRL), Job Watch and the Spectrum Migrant Resource Centre, this project aims to enhance the protection of international student employment rights. Specifically, it will investigate the problems faced by international student workers and implement a pilot project directed at addressing these issues.
