Law apps are a new and growing part of the legal landscape. Web based applications provide fast, accurate tailored and cost-effective answers to common legal problems. The next generation of lawyers at Melbourne Law School is competing in the Law Apps Bake Off – student teams will unveil apps built with Neota Logic software in the MLS Law Apps subject.

Appearing before a panel of judges, students will compete for the Slater + Gordon all round best app prize. Over the semester students have used Neota Logic software to design and build legal expert system apps that will enable their client organisations to provide online tailored legal information to the public and increase access to justice.

Last year's winning group designed the VCAT Appeals Guide, Statement of Grounds Assistant and VCAT Fee Helper apps for Environmental Justice Australia. These apps were developed to have both a practical and educative purpose for the user, and more importantly, to provide greater access to justice.

Following the competition, you are invited to join us for refreshments. Please contact Mairéad Murray at law-events@unimelb.edu.au if you have any queries.
