    Historical Note: Barrister, solicitor and judge, Rosemary Balmford is the daughter of Sir John and Dame Ada Norris. She was born in Melbourne in 1933 and educated at the University of Melbourne.Her career has included foundation Executive Director of the Leo Cussen Institute (1971–1977); Assistant-Solicitor at the University of Melbourne (1977–1983); Senior Member of the Commonwealth Administrative Appeals Tribunal (1983-1993); Judge of the County Court of Victoria (1993–1996) and Judge of the Victorian Supreme Court (1996–2003). She has also sat on the boards and committees of many community and government organisations.
