Richard Moulton Eggleston, a Melbourne graduate, commenced practice at the Bar in 1932, became K.C. in 1950, and was appointed Judge of the Commonwealth Industrial Court and the Supreme Court, A.C.T. in 1960, President of the Trade Practices Tribunal in 1966 and Chairman of the Company Law Advisory Committee in 1967.
