Alumni profiles

Melbourne Law School alumni have made significant contributions to an extraordinary range of fields, both within the law and beyond.

	Michael Black The Hon. Michael Black AC QC (LLB 1963, HonLLD 2010) retired as Chief Justice of the Federal Court of Australia in 2012. He was the inaugural Judge in Residence at Melbourne Law School.		Rufus Black Associate Professor Rufus Black is the curent master of Ormond College. He began his appointment in 2009.
	Hilary Bonney Hilary Bonney (LLB(Hons) 1988) is a barrister and crime writer who worked as a prosecuting solicitor for the Office of Public Prosecutions Victoria.		Alex Chernov Alex Chernov AC QC, the Govenor of Victoria, is a former Supreme Court judge and University of Melbourne Chancellor.
	Carmine Conte Carmine Conte's (LLB(Hons) 2004) journey into law has taken him from rural Victoria to the centre of the common law world at the University of Oxford.		Kim Crow Kim Crow (LLB(Hons) 2010) is a member of the Australian rowing team and competed in the London 2012 Olympics.
	Frank Costigan Alumnus Frank Costigan (LLB 1952) was a prominent Australian lawyer who exposed the depths of organised crime in Australia in the 1980s.		Annesley DeGaris Helping others and taking risks are keys to success for Annesley DeGaris (LLM 1992) who has been listed as a 2013 Best Lawyer of the year by Best Lawyers.
	Erika Feller Erika Feller (LLB(Hons)1972 is Assistant High Commissioner of the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR).		Lisa Leong Lisa Leong (BSc/LLB(Hons) 1995) is an experienced radio DJ and works at Herbert Smith Freehills in the role of National Business Development Manager.
	Katy Le Roy Living and working in a tiny Pacific island nation with limited resources has given Katy Le Roy (LLB(Hons)1997) a new perspective on the value of education.		Phil Lynch Phil Lynch (LLB(Hons) 1999) is the Director of International Service for Human Rights in Geneva and was previously Executive Director of the Humans Rights Law Centre.
	Jason Pobjoy Jason is dedicating his research to the plight of unaccompanied refugee children.		Zili Shao Corporate lawyer Zili Shao (LLM 1994) heads the Chinese Operations at JPMorgan Chase & Co., the second largest US bank by assets.
	Phillip Solomon Barrister Philip Soloman SC (LLB(Hons) 1991) established the Philip Solomon SC Scholarship at Melbourne Law School.		Sally Walker Emeritus Professor Sally Walker AM (LLB(Hons) 1976, LLM 1980) was former Vice-Chancellor and President of Deakin University and former Secretary-General of the Law Council of Australia.
