Alumni in Queens Birthday Honours

Fifteen Melbourne Law School alumni were recognised on this year's Queen's Birthday Honour Roll for their contribution to Australian society.

Of these, Brigadier Michael Michael Mahy was awarded a Commendation for Distinguished Service for distinguished performance of duty in warlike operations as Assistance Commander - Afghanistan Joint Task Force 633 on Operation Slipper from August 2013 to August 2014.

The Hon Justice Christopher M Maxwell was made a Companion of the Order of Australia for eminent service to the law and to the judiciary, particularly administrative reform of the appeals process, through contributions to legal education and professional development, and as a leading supporter of human rights and civil liberties.

Both Graeme A Johnson and Gregory J Levine were awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia, whilst David S Abraham, Andrew E Fairley, Margot E Foster, Julian R Gardner, Brigadier Peter C Gates, John A Howie, Henry D Lanzer, Norman S Reaburn, and Janet M Whiting were all made a Member of the Order of Australia.Emeritus Professor Terence R Carney and Malcolm W Speed were both made an Officer of the Order of Australia.
