Justice Christopher Beale is a Justice of the Supreme Court of Victoria. He works mainly in the criminal division of that court. His career in the criminal law began in 1986 when he became a duty lawyer for the Legal Aid Commission of Victoria. In 1988, he was called to the Victorian Bar. Whilst working as a barrister, he lectured part-time in criminal law at Monash University between 2002 and 2006. In 2007, he was appointed a Crown Prosecutor. He returned to the Victorian Bar in 2011 and was appointed Senior Counsel in 2012 and Queen’s Counsel in 2013. He was appointed to the Supreme Court in 2014.
