Janet McLean is a Professor of Law at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. Before returning to Auckland in 2012 she held the Chair in Law and Governance at the University of Dundee. Her research interests include the public private distinction, the nature of the Crown, and Bills of Rights. Her books include Searching for the State in British Legal Thought (Cambridge University Press: 2012), This Realm of New Zealand: The Sovereign, The Governor-General, The Crown (Auckland University Press: 2017) with Dame Alison Quentin-Baxter, and Property and the Constitution (1999) (edited collection).
