Overview

Leon Allen retired from the positions of Managing Director and CEO of Qantm Intellectual Property Limited in early 2020. Prior to holding those positions Leon practiced as a patent attorney for more than 35 years including 20 years as a partner of Davies Collison Cave and most recently managing partner. Leon has extensive experience in the drafting and prosecution, in Australia and overseas, of patent applications for industry and research organisations in the fields of physics and engineering. He has also been extensively involved in opposition proceedings before the Australian Patent Office and in major infringement actions for enforcement of patents before the Federal Court. Leon is a past President of the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia (having served on the Institute Council for 21 years) and a Past Chair of the Federal Government Advisory Council on Intellectual Property. He is also a Fellow of the International Federation of Patent Attorneys Academy of Education teaching patent drafting in Europe. Leon remains actively involved in the IP industry and is currently a non-executive director of Qantm Intellectual Property Limited.
