Senior Research Fellow
Dr Monica Campo is a Senior Research Fellow in the law school . She re-joined the MLS in 2018 to work with Professor Belinda Fehlberg on ARC funded 'Meaning of Home for Children and Young People after Parental Separation' project. She has previously worked with Belinda Fehlberg on the 'Post Separation Parenting and Financial Arrangements' study.
Monica combines research with practical community sector work as an Education and Engagement Coordinator developing family violence training and undertaking primary prevention of violence against women initiatives, at Women’s Legal Service Victoria. Monica previously worked as a researcher at the Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS) in the area of family violence, child protection and family law.
Monica gained her PhD in Sociology from La Trobe University. Her thesis critically examined contemporary childbirth debates, discourses and policies through an analysis of key discursive sites where knowledge about childbirth is produced and contested.
Monica has taught in sociology, gender, and public health and has also undertaken consultancy work for community not-for-profit organisations.
