Peter is a medical doctor and specialist sports and exercise physician. He is a co-editor and contributing author of the widely used Brukner & Khan’s Clinical Sports Medicine and is Professor of Sports Medicine at La Trobe University. Peter was the founding partner of Olympic Park Sports Medicine Centre in Melbourne and a founding Executive Member of the Australasian College of Sports Physicians. He served two terms as President of the College and played a key role in establishing sports medicine as a medical specialty in Australia. Peter has been team physician for professional football clubs such as Collingwood and Melbourne in the Australian Football League (AFL) as well as national athletics, swimming, soccer and men’s hockey teams including Olympic and Commonwealth Games. He was the Socceroos Team Doctor at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Head of Sports Medicine and Sports Science at Liverpool Football Club in the English Premier League from 2010 to 2012 and doctor to the Australian men’s cricket team from 2012 to 2017. Peter is also the Founder and Chair of the SugarByHalf campaign and has authored the popular book A Fat Lot of Good.
