Overview

Raphael is a Lecturer at Melbourne Law School and Adjunct Senior Lecturer at La Trobe University Law School. He also practices as a barrister at the Victorian Bar in public and criminal law.

His core areas of teaching and practice are Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure; Federal Criminal Law; and The Law of Evidence.

He also has broader interests in International Criminal Law; Military Law and the Laws of Armed Conflict; Transnational Criminal Law; Human Rights and Public Law; Advocacy; and Legal, Political and Moral Philosophy.

Raphael has an LLB and a BA (Hons) (majoring in philosophy, political science and international relations) from the University of Western Australia. He has an LLM (Public International Law) and a Graduate Certificate in Military Law from the Australian National University. He serves as a commissioned part-time Legal Officer in the Royal Australian Navy.
