Tal Karp is an Olympian, lawyer, sports administrator and commentator.

Tal is currently the co-founder and Director of Sixfold Consulting Group, which specialises in providing high quality strategy, policy and stakeholder engagement services and advice to clients in the sport, government, not for profit and private sectors.

Tal has held a variety of senior legal practice, policy and strategy roles over the course of her career, including with Victoria Legal Aid, the Sentencing Advisory Council, the Department of Justice and the Victorian Minister for Women and the Prevention of Family Violence. In her previous role as Civil Advocate in Victoria Legal Aid Chambers, Tal appeared in complex civil and criminal matters in jurisdictions including the Victorian Supreme Court, County Court and the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.

In earlier years Tal balanced her legal career with elite sport, representing Australia as a member of the Matildas (the Australian Women’s Soccer Team) and captaining Melbourne Victory in the inaugural season of the W-League. After representing Australia in the 2003 World Cup and 2004 Olympic Games, Tal retired from international football to focus on a career in the law.

Tal holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts from the Australian National University, having completed her law degree with first class honours and the University’s Blackburn Medal for Research in Law. Following her degree, Tal became an Associate to Justice Hayne of the High Court of Australia.

Tal is a ‘Change our Game’ Ambassador for the Victorian Government; and a member of the Sport Australia and Australian Institute of Sport ‘Sports Executive Talent Program’.

Tal commentates on topical issues on and off the sports field for a variety of broadcasters and is part of the Optus Sport Broadcast Team for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019.

A graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Tal currently serves on the board of YMCA Australia as an appointed director; and on that board’s Towards One Y (Strategy) Committee. Tal previously served on the Board of Football Federation Victoria as an elected Director. Tal has also previously held roles on the Australian Institute of Sport’s Athletes’ Commission and on the Football Federation of Victoria Tribunal.
