Celebrating_Ensemble Group

This video shows the ‘Chinese Music Ensemble’, a twelve-week breadth subject, in action in Semester 2, 2019. Open to undergraduate students from all faculties, of any musical ability, the subject introduces students to repertoire that includes traditional, folk, and contemporary Chinese music. Wang Zheng-Ting, director of the ensemble and world-renowned Sheng musician, graduated with a PhD in ethnomusicology from the University of Melbourne.

This film was commissioned for Multivocal, an exhibition opening soon at Old Quad and co-presented with the Grainger Museum. Multivocal celebrates the creation, performance and experience of music at the University of Melbourne, past and present.
