Melbourne Law School celebrates 160 years

Next year MLS will celebrate 160 years of teaching law. Join us in 2017 as we reflect on our history and celebrate this milestone anniversary with a range of events and public lectures.

In 1857 Australia’s first law course began at the University of Melbourne, with the school proud to count 33 students in its legal training course for admission to practice. Today, the Law School is home to a diverse range of students, and international networks are ever expanding and the curriculum evolving to accommodate new concepts and jurisdictions.

MLS looks forward to celebrating the 160th anniversary with alumni and friends.

It will be a night to connect, network and appreciate the scope and significance of our community.

The 160th Anniversary Gala Dinner will be held on Saturday 3 June, 2017.  The keynote speaker will be MLS alumnus James P Gorman (BA 1981, LLB 1981), CEO and Chairman of Morgan Stanley.
