Catherine Walter is an Australian lawyer and company director.

Graduating from the University of Melbourne with a first class honours degree in law, a masters of laws and an MBA, Catherine practised law for 20 years culminating in a period as Managing Partner of the Melbourne office of Clayton Utz.

Catherine has been a guest lecturer in previous years in Ian Ramsay’s LLM and JD corporate governance courses

Currently Catherine is Chair of: Melbourne Genomics Health Alliance, Helen Macpherson Smith Trust, Financial Adviser Standards & Ethics Authority (FASEA) and Creative Partnerships Australia and a Director of Australian Foundation Investment Company Board, the RBA's Payments System Board and Barristers Chambers Limited

Formerly Catherine was a Commissioner of the City of Melbourne, Chair of Federation Square Pty Ltd and Australian Synchrotron Company Ltd, Deputy Chair of Victorian Funds Management Corporation and a Director of Alfred Group of Hospitals, ASX, National Australia Bank Ltd, Orica Ltd, Melbourne Business School and Walter& Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research a Council Member of the University of Melbourne.

In 2003 Catherine Walter was honoured as a Member of The Order of Australia for service to business, particularly as a director of a range of public companies, to the arts, to the law, and to the community through the Melbourne City Council.
