Associate Director and Research Assistant
Tim Mann joined the Centre for Indonesian Law, Islam and Society in 2015 as editor of the Indonesia at Melbourne blog. He was appointed Associate Director of CILIS in 2017.
Between 2011 and November 2014, Tim worked as a program officer at The Asia Foundation in Jakarta, Indonesia, where he had the opportunity to partner with a broad range of Indonesian civil society organisations implementing programs in religious freedom, human rights, media development, public policy research and civic participation. In addition to his work with the Foundation, Tim has experience in a number of media and civil society organisations in Australia and Indonesia. Tim began his career as a veterinarian, and spent one year working on an orangutan rehabilitation centre in Central Kalimantan, before making the transition to development. Tim holds a Master of Development Studies from the University of Melbourne.
