The Role of Muslim Religious Leaders in Reducing Forest and Peatland Fires  in Indonesia

Forest and peatland fires in Indonesia are detrimental from both environmental and economic perspectives, and they cause health problems as well. These fires recur every year as a result of irresponsible human behavior, such as burning land for agricultural purposes and also other natural factors. I argue that raising public awareness about the importance of preserving the environment and avoiding actions that cause damage can be done through Muslim religious leaders, because, in Indonesian society, Muslim religious leaders who are respected become role models.
