Delivered by Emeritus Professor Nigel Bankes of University of Calgary. Professor Bankes explored the comparisons between climate change litigation in Canada and Australia. The Q&A session was chaired by Professor Lee Godden (Melbourne Law School). The lecture was chaired by Professor Lee Godden.

Nigel Bankes is an emeritus professor of law at the University of Calgary, where he has taught since 1984 teaching a variety of subjects including property law, natural resources law, oil and gas law, energy law, international environmental law and aboriginal law.

Nigel is the current holder of the Chair of Natural Resources Law. He is the Vice-Chair, Board of Directors for the Canadian Institute of Resources Law and a member of the Education Advisory Board of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators.

Nigel was awarded the Clyde O Martz Teaching Award by the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation (US and Canada) for meritorious teaching in the area of natural resources law and in 2019, Nigel received a Killam Annual Professorship for his excellence in research, mentorship and teaching.

Professor Nigel Bankes retired in June 2021.
