Children, Climate Mobility and Statelessness
In February 2023, Director Michelle Foster partnered with colleagues at the Kaldor Centre and University of Technology Sydney to make a submission to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child. The submission recommends that a Draft General Comment on the Environment and Climate Change include specific language about the protection of children who are displaced (or at risk of displacement) or stateless (or at risk of becoming stateless) in the context of climate change, disasters or environmental degradation.
