1-3 July 2019
ConTrans Net Co-Convenor Tom Daly attended the annual conference of the International Society of Public Law (ICON-S), with the theme 'Public Law in Times of Change?'. He spoke and chaired a number of panels on the deterioration and health of democratic governance worldwide: 'Corruption's Corrupting of Liberal Democracy', 'Courts Against or in Favour of Democratic Decay?', 'The State of Constitutional Democracy: Directions', and a discussion panel on Wojciech Sadurski's landmark new book on Poland's Constitutional Breakdown (Oxford University Press, 2019).
As well as participating in panel discussions, Tom co-chaired (with Prof. Mark Graber) a meeting to discuss ways of enhancing communication and collaboration among constitutional lawyers worldwide focused on the trajectory of liberal democracy. He also was among conference exhibitors, exhibiting the global research platform he directs: Democratic Decay & Renewal (DEM-DEC).
