Jurisdiction: Australia
Description:
An information database which provides a listing of significant events in Australian history with emphasis on current happenings, and covering all topics from politics and law to the arts and sport.
Each entry provides citations to key sources and background notes on the event.
Source documents for current events are the main daily state and territory papers, chiefly 'The Age' and 'The Australian', and national news journals, reports and other publications where relevant.
For historical events, source documents include contemporary records such as explorers' journals and newspapers, together with secondary sources such as books and journal articles.
Subject coverage includes Australian historical events in all subject areas with particular reference to significant happenings from 1993 to the present.
This database contains records of historical events, rather than specific bibliographic items. As such, there are no ISSNs or ISBNs in this database, and direct links to full-text via the SFX button are not possible.
Records do provide citations to key sources and background notes on the event, but these are generally multiple citations and need to be looked up manually. No direct link to these citations via SFX is possible.
