    Description:

    Has ceased operation.

    The database server will be de-commissioned, and the content of that database will be accessible from the National Library of Australia's Trove service.

    Provides information on the subject of electronic university publications.  It can be used to find out directly about online dissertations and post-doctoral theses. It is also possible to carry out research directly in electronic university publications held by the Deutsche Nationalbibliothek.

    Description:

    Search across 300,000+ theses for free, and order full text quickly and easily (payment may be req).

    Possible to order full text quickly and easily - or pay for the initial digitisation.

    Primarily, theses from participating institutions; however, the system may include records for theses from a non-participating institution.

    The database is updated at least weekly with new records from UK Higher Education Institutions and theses harvested from UK HEI Repositories.  Theses are also digitised when ordered by users and these are loaded on a daily basis.

    Description:

    Simple way to broadly search for scholarly literature.  Includes journal and conference papers, theses and dissertations, academic books, pre-prints, abstracts, technical reports and other scholarly literature from all broad areas of research.

    Indexes theses and dissertations from throughout the world.  Open access repositories are accessible through Google Scholar, so you can find theses here.

    Search tips:

    You will have to sort through a lot more results as you cannot limit to "theses". ope

    Recommend including either "master's thesis", "doctoral thesis", or "doctoral dissertation" (as appropriate) for search words.

    To distinguish theses from other material on the result record, you will see the name of an institute or an open access repository where you wold normally see a publication's details.

    This has a selection of Oxford theses available online.

    Students following D.Phil., M.Litt. and M.Sc.(by research) programmes, and who registered since October 2007, are required to deposit a hardcopy AND a digital copy of their thesis.  The digital copy should be deposited in ORA.

  • Search Foreign Dissertations (Bodleian Law Library, University of Oxford)

    Description:

    Index only.

    This is a searchable database which contains the author, title and subject details for over 18,000 late nineteenth and early twentieth century European theses dealing with a wide range of legal subjects.

    Majority of the theses are in German, French and Italian.  In many cases several theses are bound together in one volume.

    The database is a work in progress, but with over 8,000 records, it is now possible to discover some of the contents of the collection more easily than previously.

    Although there are no known collections of these theses held elsewhere in the UK, they are often to be found in academic and national libraries in Europe.
