Australia Day Honours

Melbourne Law School would like to acknowledge and congratulate our alumni who were awarded 2016 Australia Day honours.

  • Dr Michael J Andrew AO (BCom 1978/LLB 1979/DCom 2014) made an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to the accountancy profession at the national and international level, and to a range of business, anti-corruption, finance and community organisations
  • The Hon John M Batt AM (BA(Hons) 1958/LLB(Hons) 1960) made a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to the law and to the judiciary in Victoria, to legal scholarship, and to the Anglican Church of Australia
  • Mr Allan J Myers AC QC (BA 1969/LLB(Hons) 1970/LLD 2012) made a Companion of the Order of Australia for eminent service to the community through philanthropic leadership in support of major visual arts, higher education, medical research and not-for-profit organisations, to the law, and to professional learning programs
  • Mrs Maria J Myers AC (BA 1971/GDip (Social Studies) 1972/LLB 1991) made a Companion of the Order of Australia for eminent service to the community through philanthropic leadership in support of major visual and performing arts, cultural, education, and not-for-profit organisations, and to the advancement of the understanding of Indigenous rock art
  • Dr Michael C Pryles AO (LLB 1967/LLD 1982) made an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to the law in the area of arbitration, at the national and international level, and to legal education as an academic and author
  • Ms Jennifer E Rawson (BA/LLB(Hons) 1975) awarded a Public Service Medal for outstanding public service in advancing Australia's international interests
  • Mrs Joan H Treweeke OAM (LLB 1966) awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for service to rural and remote communities in New South Wales
