Subject quotas and waitlists

Waitlist

The Academic Support Office maintains a waitlist for all MLM subjects that have reached their maximum enrolment quota. If your subject is displaying as full in the table above, you can complete an application to have your details added to the waitlist.

IMPORTANT: Being on the waitlist for a subject does not constitute a formal enrolment, so you are encouraged to enrol in an alternate subject until a place becomes available in your preferred subject.

CAP Applicants: This form is intended for use by currently enrolled students admitted to the MLM Program. Please refer to the Single Subject Study page (Community Access Program) for information on how to apply for single subject study at Melbourne Law School.

Cross-faculty applicants: Students seeking enrolment into Single Subject Study must first apply via cross-faculty study application form. If approved, your name will be added to the waitlist by the Academic Support Office.

Our office will be in contact with an offer of enrolment if or when space becomes available. The waitlist is managed on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority placement given to students admitted to a specialist course, but only where that subject is accredited to that particular course.

While on the waitlist

Places can, and do, become available unpredictably, as this is reliant on a student withdrawing from the subject. This can occur before the table above is updated again. You are encouraged to attempt self-enrolment up until the self-enrolment date for the subject lapses (typically three weeks before classes commence).

Once the subject’s last date to self-enrol has passed, students will no longer be able to enrol themselves. Should a place in the subject become available after this date, the waitlist will be reviewed and students will be contacted and given a limited period of time to accept or decline the place.
