Access the Early Academic Guidance for Legal Education (EAGLE) program and Self-directed Learning at the University of Melbourne which includes Academic Skills, Legal Writing, Exams and more.
In the EAGLE program, later year JD students facilitate small groups of up to 10 new JD students. The groups will meet for one hour each week to discuss first semester subjects and strategies, techniques and skills for studying law. The program commences in week 2 of first semester. We will circulate information about how to register for the study groups in the first week of semester when we visit your classes and through the JD newsletter.
The overall aim of the EAGLE program is to provide a supportive small group forum for guided discussion, question and answer and skills development. In particular, the study group sessions aim to:
- Support students' transition from previous study to studying law
- Help develop specific academic skills such as reading law, effective notes, approaching hypothetical question answers and exam preparation
An informal structure will be set for the sessions, but each session will also respond to particular needs as they arise and are negotiated within the groups.
