Carol Andrades

Overview

Carol Andrades is widely acknowledged for her expertise in anti-discrimination, employment and industrial law. Following a period as a partner with Maurice Blackburn & Co, she consulted to Ryan Carlisle Thomas and Gordon Legal, and continues to consult to the legal profession.

Parallel to her practice, Carol has for many years lectured at post-graduate level in anti-discrimination law with the University of Melbourne, where she is a Senior Fellow in the Melbourne Law Masters Program. She is also a member of the Advisory Board of the University’s Centre for Employment and Labour Relations Law, sits on the Editorial Board of the Lexis Nexis Employment Law Bulletin and has served on both government and not-for-profit Boards and committees. She wrote the chapter on Freedom from Discrimination and Harassment in the Australian Charter of Employment Rights.

Carol worked with the ILO in Vietnam, assisting with the introduction of aspects of that country's Labour Code. For her advocacy in the Special Family Leave Test Case, she received the President's Award from the Australian Federation of AIDS Organisations. She also volunteers with the Fitzroy Legal Service and the Adult Migrant English Program.
