Overview
Professor Ali Noroozi is an Enterprise Professor of Taxation Law at Melbourne Law School and has joined the Melbourne Centre for Commercial Law, Taxation Law and Policy program.
Professor Noroozi brings over 32 years of professional experience in the tax arena. He is well-known for his achievements as the Inspector-General of Taxation (IGT), a position he held for 10 years from 2008 to 2018. As the IGT, he was the CEO of an independent government agency that scrutinises the actions of the ATO and the Tax Practitioners Board. He has also been a partner or held other senior tax roles at large accounting and law firms in Australia and the United Kingdom.
Professor Noroozi’s responsibilities will include teaching, research, engaging with the profession, as well as being the Director of Tax and International Tax studies at Melbourne Law School.
