Overview

Mary Liston is an Associate Professor at the Peter A Allard School of Law, University of British Columbia. She teaches public law including administrative and constitutional law, legal theory, and law and literature. Professor Liston has developed sub-areas of expertise in the emerging field of Aboriginal administrative law, legal pluralism, and modes of interpreting legal texts. Professor Liston is a co-convenor of the Canadian Network of Law and & Humanities, a new initiative at UBC that brings together a vibrant group of scholars interested in the cultural, imaginative, and embodied aspects of law and working at several universities across Canada. She holds a BA Hons in English Language and Literature from Western University, an MA in Social and Political Thought from York University, and an LLB, PhD (Political Science and Law) and Postdoctoral Fellowship in Ethics and Law from the University of Toronto.
