Dr Nikolas Feith Tan is Senior Lecturer at Melbourne Law School where he researches in the field of international refugee law. He is also Senior Protection Officer at the United Nations refugee agency, UNHCR. Previously, he was Senior Researcher at the Danish Institute for Human Rights in Copenhagen.

Nikolas' academic work has been published in the International Journal of Refugee Law, European Journal of Migration and Law and Nordic Journal of International Law and in specialist edited volumes. A monograph, Transnational Asylum, is forthcoming with Routledge in 2024.

Nikolas is Visiting Professor at the MOBILE Centre, University of Copenhagen, and Senior Research Affiliate at the University of London's Refugee Law Initiative where he co-convenes the Declaration on International Protection. Nikolas has also acted as legal consultant for Amnesty International, the Danish Refugee Council and UNHCR on various aspects of international protection.

Nikolas has taught international law, human rights law and refugee law at Aalborg University, Aarhus University and the University of London, where he convened the course Protecting Human Rights, Refugees and Displaced Persons in International Law for the MA in Refugee Protection and Forced Migration Studies.
