Overview

Paul is the Principal at Hockridge Advisory whose focus is on providing specialist tax support to high wealth families, privately owned businesses and their accounting and legal advisers. This includes litigation support services in relation to tax matters.

Structuring and restructuring with a view to tax efficiency, asset protection and intergenerational wealth transfers goes to the heart of Hockridge Advisory’s work.

Paul Hockridge has a good deal of experience advising property developers, especially those coming from overseas.

Paul was a partner in a Big 4 and second tier chartered accounting firms and a multi-family office for many years before starting Hockridge Advisory

Paul has a lot of experience managing disputes with the Australian Taxation Office and more recently in establishing and reviewing Tax Governance Frameworks for “Next 5000” and “medium and emerging” family and private groups.

For many years Paul Hockridge has had a particular interest in FBT and salary packaging, having written a book on employment taxes, represented CPA Australia on the FBT subcommittee of the National Tax Liaison Group and currently sitting on The Tax Institute’s Employment Taxes committee.

Other committees that Paul has sat on include the Education and Victorian Technical committees of the Tax Institute and the Tax Practice committee of CPA Australia, which he also represented on the National Tax Liaison Group.

As well as currently being a Senior Fellow in the Melbourne Law Masters program in the Law School at the University of Melbourne, Paul was an Adjunct Professor at LaTrobe University. Paul has taught Taxation of Small & Medium Enterprises for over 19 years and has taught in Taxation of Remuneration and Capital Gain Tax Problems in Practice of earlier years

Paul has participated in confidential consultation with the Government on tax reform issues and has contributed to submissions lodged by previous firms or professional bodies.

As well as being a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and a Chartered Tax Advisor, Paul maintains a corporate practicing certificate as a legal practitioner in Victoria.

Paul has held a number of honorary board, chair and committee rolls in charitable and not for profit bodies over many years.
