Overview

Phil (LLB, BSC (University of Melbourne)) is a practising lawyer, having recently retired from the Partnership at Corrs Chambers Westgarth after 32 years as a Partner.  He remains as a Consultant to the firm practising in Technology Law, AI, and Data Law (including Privacy).

He has taught at the University Law School for over five years and is also lecturing at a number of international institutions, including the International Law Association. He is a former Board member of that organisation and a former President of TechLaw.

Phil has represented a number of Australia’s and the world’s leading organisations in their technology law requirements in Australia, and most recently has been acting for Bunnings in the seminal case on privacy in the context of Facial Recognition Technology.

He has also written numerous texts on the law relating to the use of Artificial Intelligence.
