Unfitness to plead and indefinite detention of persons with cognitive impairments: Addressing the legal barriers and creating appropriate alternative supports in the community
The broad goal of the Unfitness to Plead project is to develop practical and legal solutions to the problem of people with cognitive impairments, including Indigenous people with cognitive impairments, being found unfit to plead and subject to indefinite detention in Australia. It aims to do this through a combination of building good practice in the community and providing policy and legal analysis.
