New grants awarded under the ERRN Research Collaboration Initiative
The ERRN Governance Board has now assessed all the expressions of interest in this year's Research Collaboration Initiative and has decided to award grants to two projects. Professor Rodney Smith of the University of Sydney will lead a team on a project entitled 'Implications of Changes to Voting in Australia’ with involvement from the New South Wales Electoral Commission and the Western Australian Electoral Commission while Dr Narelle Miragliotta of Monash University will lead a team on a project entitled 'The Desirability and Feasibility of Extending Convenience Voting in Australia’ with involvement from the Victorian Electoral Commission.
The aim of the Research Collaboration Initiative is to facilitate research collaboration amongst academics, electoral commissions and other interested groups through the provision of grants for research projects that deal with long-term challenges for the regulation of elections in Australia.
Please visit our research page for more information on these projects, and to access the final reports of the previous round of projects: 'The Challenge of Informed Voting' and 'Enhancing Local Government Democracy: the City of Melbourne'.
