In Your Region
Regional or International Alumni Receptions
Even if you are living or working overseas, you can still keep connected with Melbourne Law School and network with other alumni. The University of Melbourne regularly hosts receptions for overseas alumni. You can get involved by:
- Volunteering your time to help contact fellow alumni in your personal or professional network
- Provide a venue for an alumni event. This may include a law firm, a private gallery, a restaurant or a private residence
- In-kind donation – contribute to the cost of catering or venue
- Volunteer to speak at an event and deliver a presentation on a relevant subject
Participate in Welcome Home events
The University hosts a number of Welcome Home receptions for international students returning to their home countries after graduation or Australian students relocating overseas. Alumni are encouraged to participate at these events to welcome new graduates, share career insights and advice through networking.
Alumni Groups and Chapters
Volunteer your time as a committee member for an existing Alumni Group or start a new group. Committee members of Alumni Groups are great ambassadors for the School and the University. These volunteers are responsible for planning and organising meaningful engagement activities for fellow alumni in their region.

For Students
Becoming a Mentor
The Melbourne Law School Mentor Program aims to provide all MLS students with a link to the profession and exposure to the practical realities of working in the law. Mentors enjoy the opportunity to develop a relationship with the next generation of law graduates, in addition to maintaining a relationship with the Law School.
We are now seeking your help to accommodate the growth of the program. For more information about the program and to register your interest, please click here.
Hosting an Intern
Your workplace may be able to provide an opportunity for a student to experience law outside the classroom. Internships provide a valuable bridge between the theory of law and the reality of practice. Equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to work in the real world, students can improve their employability upon graduation.
Partnerships are sought with organisations across the private, public and community sectors.
Mooting and Competitions Volunteer
Mooting and other competitions are an integral part of studying law at Melbourne Law School. Alumni with litigation experience are needed to help coach and provide feedback to students.
