Nasrin Akter is a PhD candidate at Melbourne Law School. Her doctoral research examines how climate change is reshaping the dimensions of land acquisition and evaluates the adequacy of eminent domain or comparable compulsory acquisition frameworks in balancing climate needs with the protection of vulnerable communities. Her research interests lie in land acquisition, climate change and environmental justice.
She is currently on study leave from her position as an Assistant Professor of the Department of Law and Land Administration at Jagannath University, Bangladesh, where she taught land acquisition law, environmental law, property law, and real estate and construction law for over five years. Prior to this, she served as a faculty member of the Department of Law at Noakhali Science and Technology University, Bangladesh, in 2019.
She holds an LLM from York University, Canada and previously completed her LLB and LLM at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.
