Mohammed Azaad is serving as an Assistant Professor of Law at the Tamil Nadu National Law University (TNNLU), Tiruchirappalli. Previously, he was teaching at VELS University, Chennai for a brief period. He graduated from Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, Chennai (popularly known as ‘Madras Law College’) in 2013. He has competed in several National & International Moot Court Competitions such as the Willem C. Vis International Arbitration Moot.

During his under graduation days, he interned under Senior Advocate M.S. Krishnan at the Madras High Court for more than 2 years. He also served as a Law Clerk/Research Assistant to Justices S. Rajeswaran and R.S. Ramanathan. Before taking up academia, he practiced as an Advocate at the Office of the Madras High Court Government Pleader S.T.S. Murthi, wherein he worked on various matters relating to Writs, Property disputes, Service laws, Consumer disputes, Company cases, Land laws etc.

He completed his LL.M from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad with a specialisation in Corporate and Commercial Laws. He also holds Master of Business Laws (M.B.L) and B.C.A. degrees from NLSIU, Bangalore and TNOU, Chennai respectively. After Post Graduation, he cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) and joined TNNLU in 2015. At TNNLU, he has taught varied subjects like Competition Law, Election Laws, Banking Laws, Property Laws, Judicial Process & Interpretation of Statutes and Securities Laws. As a Chief Editor, he was responsible for bringing out the first edition of TNNLU Law Review (TNNLU-LR). He is one of the founding members of the Centre for Competition Law (CCL), TNNLU which has collaborated with the Competition Commission of India (CCI), New Delhi for competition assessment of economic policies/legislations. He is presently translating the Competition Advocacy Booklet of CCI from English to Tamil.
