As the world comes to terms with Trump's victory, can Australia be prevented from joining the global trend toward strongman authoritarianism? Jon Faine AM chaired an in conversation seminar with Professor Lisa Hill and Associate Professor William Partlett to discover what holds us in good stead and what imperils us.


About the panel


Lisa Hill is one of Australia's leading political scientists. A Rhodes Scholar with a PhD from Oxford, she is currently a Professor of Politics at the University of Adelaide. The author of ten books, her most recent work is titled "Why and How to Regulate Political Disinformation."

Will Partlett, a leading constitutional law academic and the Centre's Stephen Charles Fellow, holds a PhD from Oxford. His most recent book, "Why the Russian Constitution Matters; The Constitutional Dark Arts", addresses the erosion of democratic guardrails and the centralisation of power.

Jon Faine started his professional life as a solicitor in commercial litigation in private practice for four years, then with Fitzroy Legal Service for three. After that, he hosted the agenda-setting morning broadcast for ABC Radio in Melbourne for over twenty years.
