Trade Unions and the Enforcement of Minimum Employment Standards - February 2014

Centre Members John Howe and Sean Cooney along with Research Fellow Ingrid Landau and Tess Hardy from RMIT are the authors of a new research report on 'Trade Unions and the Enforcement of Minimum Employment Standards'. The report presents the preliminary findings of a study that has examined how five trade unions in Australia monitor and enforce minimum employment standards concerning wages, hours of work and leave.

Study on Labour Inspection Sanctions and Remedies: The case of Australia - March 2011

Centre members John Howe and Sean Cooney, along with Research Associate Nicole Yazbek, are the authors of a new study of labour inspection sanctions and remedies in Australia published by the ILO's Labour Administration and Inspection Programme (LAB/ADMIN). LAB/ADMIN is conducting a comparative study of labour inspection sanctions and remedies to coincide with this year's International Labour Conference, where labour law enforcement will be a key item on the agenda. The report on Australia details the labour inspection and enforcement framework for minimum employment standards and occupational health and safety regulation.

Using Public Procurement to Promote Better Labour Standards - A Case Study of the Victorian Government Schools Contract Cleaning Program

The authors thank Industrial Relations Victoria (IRV) and the Victoria Department of Education and Training (DET) for granting permission to interview participants in the design and administration of the Victorian Government Schools Contract Cleaning Program.
