2022 - Resources Law and Public Policy Revisited

The Annual Lecture was delivered online by Professor Emeritus Michael Crommelin AO (Melbourne Law School) on Thursday 3 November, 12.00pm - 1.00pm. Professor Crommelin revisited the natural resources management policy in Australia. The Q&A session was chaired by Professor Lee Godden (CREEL, Director) with Professor Matthew Harding (Dean, Melbourne Law School) giving the vote of thanks.

2021 - Comparative Climate Change Litigation: Canada and Australia

The Annual Lecture was delivered online by Professor Emeritus Nigel Bankes (Faculty of Law, University of Calgary) on Tuesday, 23 November, 11.00am - 12.00pm. Professor Bankes explored the comparisons between climate change litigation in Canada and Australia. The Q&A session was chaired by Professor Lee Godden (Melbourne Law School).

2020 - Courting controversy: Reflections on the evolution of Australian public interest environmental law

This inaugural annual lecture was held online on Thursday, 12 November, 5.00-6.30pm. The capacity and influence of public interest environmental laws continue to increase, and the scope and nature of the public interest environmental law agenda continue to evolve. Reflecting on 15 years of leadership of the Environment Defenders Office (EDO) Victoria and Environmental Justice Australia, Brendan Sydes shared his thoughts on these developments and the challenges the future holds. Lauren Butterly (EDO) was the discussant and Prof. Lee Godden chaired the event. The lecture's recording is now available to view.
