About the Melbourne Forum

The Melbourne Forum brings together scholars and practitioners from across Asia and the Pacific to share experiences and perspectives on pressing constitutional issues, regionally and globally.

The Forum is organised jointly by the Constitution Transformation Network and International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA). Annual meetings are hosted by local partners in different states and are organised around a key theme, often complemented by a special session on constitutional developments in the host state. The Melbourne Forum Community now comprises over 110 specialists from over 30 countries who have participated in meetings of the Forum.

The Melbourne Forum uses a distinctive methodology that enables wide-ranging discussion and open, mutual exchange of ideas between regional participants. By sharing information about each other’s constitutional experiences, the Forum provides reliable insights into the operations of constitutional government across one of the most diverse regions of the world, further enriching global knowledge and understanding. The knowledge and ideas from each Forum meeting are published in annual Reports and a series of accessible briefs, Constitutional INSIGHTS.
