Historical Note: On his retirement from politics in 1966, the Rt. Hon. Sir Robert Menzies became Scholar-in-residence at the University of Virginia, U.S.A. On his return in 1967, he was elected Chancellor of the University of Melbourne where he had graduated and in which he had always maintained a warm interest.
